"I personally think the Full Energy theme is quite ugly. However, that's the whole point to that particular animation style. We realize it probably won't appeal to everyone on the site, but we feel it is important to encompass more styles. Full Energy is going to be one of those things that people either love or hate!"

- Alvin Hung[1]

Full Energy was a rather unique legacy theme on GoAnimate. This was exclusive to GoPlus members and was added around 2009, only lasting three years being retired on 2012.

Characters[]

  • Dave
  • Boss
  • Clyde

Design[]

Full Energy is likely the most strangest theme design-wise. Two of its three characters, Boss and Clyde, are sentient objects, with an energy drink and a men's health magazine respectively. They use real life photos for most of their body while other parts are drawn on. The third character is named Dave, who is vastly different from the other two, he is more human like but seems to be a heavily edited image of an action figure but with clothes added on and facial features drawn on for expressions besides his neutral one. Dave is always seen holding an energy drink and can drink it sloppily as one of his actions. The props mostly contain of junk food such as burgers, energy drinks, and hot dogs. And the four backdrops from the theme seem to imply the world takes place in a trailer park somewhere in America where there are palm trees, as an American flag and palm trees can be seen in the backdrops, judging from this it's likely either in the states of California or Florida.

Full Energy is likely based on the art styles of Adult Swim shows at the time, such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Robot Chicken, which feature living objects and stop motion animated action figures much like Full Energy, it is likely a combination of both of their styles.

Trivia[]

  • According to Alvin Hung, Full Energy was intentionally designed to be "ugly" but encompass and showcase more animation styles in GoAnimate.
  • It is the second shortest lived theme on GoAnimate, only lasting 3 years before being retired, the shortest lived being AKON which only lasted 2 years from 2008-2010.
  • Due to the theme being exclusive to paid members, the theme generally not being appealing looking, its minimal characters and backdrops, and its generally short lifespan, it was rarely used in GoAnimate videos, and is a somewhat forgotten theme nowadays. It remains in most legacy video maker clones however, like Wrapper Offline and FlashThemes.
