Wrapper: Offline is a recreation of the original GoAnimate website with the end goal of preserving its earlier content, and acts as a way to make GoAnimate style videos. It has a Discord server where you can be notified of updates.
Features
Unlike a typical GoAnimate clone, which may be a hybrid between being offline and online or online altogether, Wrapper: Offline is stored entirely on the user's computer and can be used without any internet access, barring the text-to-speech voices, hence the name.
Wrapper: Offline runs in an Electron window with Flash Player included, allowing for an easy installation and startup.
Wrapper: Offline has featured importing and starters since 1.3.0, which are important features it had been lacking in previous versions. Wrapper: Offline also features a number of Video Maker mods. These are:
- An expanded color palette.
- A re-implementation of background flipping.
- A character creator window. (Only for 2.1.0)
- Headgear support for more themes.
- A Toon Adventure character creator fix.
- TikTok voices
History
Before Wrapper: Offline existed, the original service to revive GoAnimate's Legacy Video Maker was GoAnimate Wrapper developed by VisualPlugin. However, VisualPlugin would close GoAnimate Wrapper in early 2020. benson soon launched launched Wrapper Offline, a piece of software designed to emulate GoAnimate Wrapper "offline" so that it could never be shutdown. It comprised the code from GoAnimate Wrapper, the asset store, files needed to get it working, and a startup script. Version 1.0.0 was released on April 18, 2020.
On July 5, 2020, version 1.2.0 was released. It introduced the IVONA voices, Mega Comedy World 2.0, and an importing workaround, which used a batch script to add files to a custom theme. It also fixed waveforms, which in previous versions was simply a dummy. This was presumably due to the Video Maker freezing while it generated.
benson left the entire community on July 17, 2020, leaving Wrapper: Offline on hold with no owner. During this time, the text-to-speech voices slowly broke as sites updated their APIs. This period of no development lasted until December 19, 2020, when Keegan Salisbury formed a development team and started an unofficial continuation of Wrapper: Offline. benson was quickly notified of this and he returned to give ownership to Keegan and make an announcement explaining his reasoning for abandoning the project. Shortly after he did this, the Discord server started undergoing massive changes. It was renamed to Wrapper Hub and revisioned itself into a central server for Wrapper support.
Keegan's ownership and work on Wrapper: Offline has been heavily criticized for being unstable and untested. On March 5, 2021, version 1.2.3 was released mainly as a fix for TTS voices. A month later, Keegan made the controversial decision to release 1.3.0 prematurely. His ownership lasted half a year, before he finally caved in and transferred the project's ownership to GoTest334.
Under GoTest's ownership, Wrapper Hub became Wrapper: Offline again, and 1.3.0 was put back into beta, or retracted. In March 2022, development of 1.3.0 was reset, since the original was deemed unsalvageable. The new version of 1.3.0 had importing, starters, working TTS voices, and other new features that were missing from previous versions. It was released on July 4, 2022.
Shortly after 1.3.0 was released, development of version 2.0.0 commenced. This version restructured Wrapper: Offline as an Electron project. It introduced cross-platform support, watermarks, more settings that take advantage of the Video Maker's flashvars, and reintroduced It'sJay's Video Maker mods from pre-reset 1.3.0. It was released on January 21, 2023.
Development of version 2.1.0 began on December 7, 2022. This version is still in the process of being developed and has not been completed yet.
On January 19th, 2025, the 2.0.1 version was released due to a large influx of people using wrapper offline as a result of FlashThemes being shutdown temporarily due to a cease and desist from Vyond, and it added features like tiktok voices, autosaving fixed, redesigned video preview, the new logo finally on wrapper offline, and fixed tts voices, along with removing business friendly to avoid a cease and desist.
